Snowshoe Racing

Following-up on Fritz's post on snowshoeing, some of you may be interested in doing the Mad Trapper snowshoe race series. I did a race a few years back and it was a blast. Mike Caldwell, the organizer, puts on a great event. $20 includes race registration, a hot meal after and prizes. Check out the website http://www.themadtrapper.ca/ . I will be signing up for this Saturday's race and will do the 5k race carrying Amélie in her carrier. Melissa will also do it. It will be a fun family outing for us.

Screw that! I just read it . . . there's lots of running and really, really far! I thought it was going to be a jaunt threw the woods. Boooo

I'll actually be heading up that way on Sat - but will have a Christmas Tree on the roof and the chalet will be my final destination.

However, I will be bringing my snowshoes up as well. I plan to do a bit of 'extreme' snowshoeing. The idea is to use their XC 'trail' to climb up some of the back hills around Mont Ste Marie and then bushwacking at speed down them. I'm planning sick air and zero broken bones.

Big Ring! Running is an option; you can do a leisurely stroll if you wish!

Craig, food is served and fire provided all you have to do is grab your family and some snowshoes, running isn't necessary and you won't get lost theres lots of tracks to follow, its a beautiful area.
